Decking Installation in Dorset
Beautifully built decking that makes the most of your outdoor space, all year round.
What Is Decking Installation, and Is It Right for Your Garden?
Decking is one of the most versatile ways to add usable outdoor space to a garden. Whether you want a raised platform to level out a sloped garden, a wrap-around terrace to make the most of a sunny aspect, or a simple seating area off the back of the house, Classic Landscaping designs and builds decking that suits your garden and your lifestyle. We work with both timber and composite materials, and every project is personally overseen by Ian and Scott from design to completion.

We Work With
Pressure-Treated Timber
A traditional and cost-effective choice. Pressure-treated softwood is resistant to rot and insect damage and, when properly maintained, provides a natural-looking deck for many years.
Hardwood Timber
Hardwoods such as iroko and balau offer exceptional durability and a premium appearance. They require less maintenance than softwood and develop a distinguished silvery-grey patina over time if left untreated.
Composite Decking
Made from a blend of wood fibre and recycled plastic, composite decking offers the appearance of timber with minimal upkeep. It will not rot, splinter, or require annual treatment, making it the low-maintenance choice for most homeowners.

Overseen by Ian and Scott
Ian and Scott personally manage every decking project. You will speak to them directly, not be handed to an account manager.
Unbeatable Attention to Detail
A deck built on a poor subframe will move, creak, and deteriorate quickly. We get the structure right first — the boards are only as good as what they are sitting on.

What our customers say.
Ian and his team were excellent. All products used were of a very high quality. Even with quite scant detail Ian fully understood what I was looking for. They were very polite and friendly and extremely tidy and professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone. He also repaired our rotting fence panel and once again did an excellent job. We are really happy customers.

We’ve had a couple of jobs done by Classic Landscaping and have been extremely pleased with the results. A further job to follow. Ian, Scott and Cade are a great team, very hardworking, friendly and polite with experienced knowledge to suggest ideas to help with decision making. Always leave the site clean and tidy. To be thoroughly recommended.

The team and Classic were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The team of 3 were with us for a number of weeks creating resin paths and putting new stone work around our flower beds. My wife and I were very pleased with the teams work and the finish they created. All hard workers. We would recommend them and certainly intend to use Classic again

I have received many compliments on their work from neighbours and passers by who taken their details they were so impressed.

Ian and his men arrived and worked like trojans until the work was completed. From the quote process to completion I can’t fault Ian and his team. They were hard working, tidy and kept us in the loop the whole time. I’m so pleased with the results, I now have a garden that can be used all year round. It’s no longer am useable space.

I have used Classic Landscaping on several occasions for patio and wall brickwork and fence work. The communication, quality of work , reliability and friendliness has always been of a very high standard. I have already recommended Classic Landscaping to neighbours and they are equally satisfied with the excellent workmanship and service.

Frequently Asked Questions
Decking costs depend on the size of the structure, the material chosen, and whether the build is raised or at ground level. Composite decking carries a higher upfront cost than timber but typically requires less ongoing maintenance. We provide a full written quote after visiting your garden.
How long does it take to build a deck? Most decking projects take between two and four days. Larger or raised structures may take longer. We will confirm the expected duration in your quote.
Does decking need planning permission?Decking at ground level or raised less than 30cm above the ground does not normally require planning permission, provided it does not cover more than 50% of the garden area. Raised decking or structures in conservation areas may need permission. We advise on this during your consultation.
Composite decking requires the least upkeep. It does not need annual oiling or treatment and will not rot or splinter. A wash down once or twice a year is typically sufficient to keep it looking good.
A well-built pressure-treated softwood deck will typically last 15 to 20 years with regular maintenance. Hardwood and composite decking can last significantly longer when correctly installed and cared for.
